Quick episode (aka rant) about paid coaching vs parent or volunteer coaching in youth hockey. Bottom line, find a good coach. Don't be sucked in by the lies that paid coaches are necessarily better or that parent coaches always give special treatment to their kid. Yes it happens, but that's why you look for the best coach and focus on player development ability.

Tryout season is crazy time. Parents, coaches and manager all lose sight of reality in search of something else. Instead, can we just truly focus on the players. How can we help them grow and get better?
