Galatians #20 What Is Your Identity?

Listen Later

The sermon centers on the transformative identity believers possess in Christ, drawn from Galatians 3:23–29, where Paul contrasts the temporary, convicting role of the law—portrayed as a prison and a schoolmaster—with the permanent freedom and unity found in faith alone in Christ alone. Under the law, humanity was held captive by guilt and condemnation, like prisoners or children under strict guardianship, awaiting the fulfillment of God's promise in Christ. But through faith alone in Christ alone, believers are liberated from the law's condemnation and adopted as children of God, clothed in Christ's righteousness, and united into one family across all distinctions of ethnicity, social status, or gender. This new identity in Christ—rooted in divine adoption, spiritual kinship, and inheritance through Abraham—grounds believers in an eternal identity that never changes, enabling them to live with purpose, joy, and resilience amid trials. The message calls the audience to daily affirm and live from this unshakable identity "in Christ', which supersedes all earthly roles and provides the strength to resist sin, endure suffering, and reflect Christ's love in the world.
