GOD WORKS ALL THINGS TO THE GOOD OF THOSE THAT LOVE HIM
What a beautiful story of love and forgiveness. Bonnie Wurthington has loved the Lord and tried her best to live a Christian life, truly letting God's love shine through her in everything she does. Her step-brother, Con, is so jealous of her that from the time she came to live in his father's home at the age of five, he has tormented her and called her ugly. Lord Garett Rutherford has earned the name Lord Black Storm and he is known for his gambling and winnings. Con's cockiness and believing he can beat Garett in a card game places Bonnie in the pot, along with everything else he has already gambled away, and loses. What a shock later on when Garett finds out that Bonnie is a woman and not a mule he has sent to the family country estate. The plot was captivating and the dialogue was heartwarming. Sometimes we plant the seeds of God's Salvation and they are reaped later on. Bonnie never lost faith that God had a special plan for her life.
I Loved it!
This book was awesome,unlike any other Christian historical fiction I've ever read, the characters are natural and the story is compelling. Steal of a deal all the way!
Not very good
I had a hard time finishing this book. It was compared to a Georgette Heyer novel, but it did not compare in the least. The dialogues are stale and the emotions do not reach the heart. You could read it as a Cindirella kind of story; but there are many much better Christian versions such as Melanie Dickerson's The Captive Maiden. I read a lot of Christian fiction and find that a character doesn't have to quote the Bible on every sentence to show his/her devotion. I would recommend novels by Elizabeth Camden, Sarah E. Ladd, Melanie Dickerson and Karen Witemeyer among others.

Gambled Away by Teresa Lilly is a heart warming book about Bonnie an English lady and Lord Rutherford, gambler that won her, from her step brother, Con in a card game.
Lord Rutherford assumed she was a mule when Con told him that Bonnie would work in the fields.
The story deals with Bonnie's travel to the estate and the aftermath.
The theme of Jeremiah 29: 11 runs throughout the story
This is my most favorite verse and very appropriate for this book.

Really good story
Bonnie was the step sister to Con who Gambled everything away including her. The person believes her to be a mule and knows no different. The story has some twists and turns in it and makes it quite interesting.
