As the garden settles in and my camera, once again, takes over the passenger seat, I'm excited to be back out on the road exploring and photographing some of Iowa's most beautiful landscapes. In this episode I share more about Iowa's99 and my upcoming plans for this podcast.
A short how-to for creating your own summer planted containers and whats needed to keep them looking beautiful all season long. From selecting the right container to overcoming the overwhelm of choosing the right plants, this episode will help you create a beautiful planted pot you will be proud to show off this summer.
Next week will mark the first day of summer. For me it is a transition from a busy spring garden season back to a more regular schedule and back to my photography. This episode was not actually intended to be an episode. While I recorded it as I would any other episode, I initially just intended to record my thoughts and feelings as part of my kick off to the week. Listening back, however, I thought that it might prove useful to others who are facing a similar change of season. Stepping into a new season with the intention of being and doing better is something I think we can all relate to.
We're jumping into the garden portion of Garden & Gravel this month. It's May, Mother's Day is right around the corner and that means, PLANTING SEASON is here! I love a good greenhouse or garden center and in this episode I want to share a bit about my favorite greenhouses and garden centers around the Des Moines area, and the things that matter to me when choosing the places I go to for buying plants.
On a recent vacation I intentionally left my camera at home, even though I knew there would be interesting places to photograph. I didn't want to deal with the hassle of hauling my camera bag on an airplane but I really wanted and needed the break. Letting go of the everyday activities, even for just a few hours, can be a great way to be present and see things from a different perspective. It can also be a wonderful way to deal with the winter blahs.
Today's episode is my 2025 kickoff for year two of Iowa's99. I'm sharing the process that is motivating me to keep moving forward and how my first photo day of year yielded some wonderful surprises about this state I call home and the people who care for it.
I am a gratitude girl, it has been a part of my morning routine for over six years and it has infiltrated nearly every corning of my life, including my long-held dislike of cooking.
An impromtu chat about my obsession with planners and the tools I like to use for setting goals in the new year.
This is my first ever interview on this podcast. I'm thrilled to be sharing my conversation with Amy Warnke and Haiden Johnson from the Madison County Conservation Board.
In this episode you'll about The Madison County Conservation Board, and what Naturalists do.
It's been a minute since my last episode. Today's episode is all about catching up and sharing what I've been working on and where I'm going from here.
