Not Just a Garden

Gardeners' World 2026 Recap: Ep 8

Listen Later

This week on Gardeners' World 2026 Episode 8 Recap we reminisce about an old episode of Gardeners' World dating way, way back to the middle ages of... 2005.

We also find out how many trees Kew lost in 2022, what Zach Galifianakis has to do with gardening, just how fast crocodiles can run, the incredibly positive impact rose oil has on the brain, how you can catch leprosy from soil, what happened to the first and last sandwich in space, and where the red dye in foods usually comes from.

On Gardeners' World Carol Klein shows us how to grow vegetables in a small space in her garden at Glebe Cottage in Devon, and Amy Chapman shows us her lovely roof garden on her narrowboat. Advolly Richmond is at the Backhouse Rossie Estate in Fife and tells us about Sarah Elizabeth Dodgson's daffodils and Caroline Thompson's ongoing work to track down the Backhouse daffodils bred by her ancestors. Finally Eliot Barden at Majestic Trees and Kevin Martin, Head of Tree Collections at Kew, talk to us about native versus non-native trees and the impact of climate change.

🌿 We also remind our listeners that Dan's Plants is giving a 10% discount on all his award-winning plants with our exclusive code NJAG10 🌸
