A fourth-generation military professional, Garrath’s career began in the Duke of Wellington’s Regiment after graduating from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst. From commanding troops in Kosovo and Afghanistan to transferring to the Australian Army and leading a company in combat, Garrath’s military journey is one of courage and excellence.
But his story doesn’t stop on the battlefield. Garrath’s unwavering commitment to veterans led him to co-found Veterans Can, a transformative initiative empowering the veteran community. He also spearheaded Rugby for the Wounded, raising over £200,000 to support injured servicemen and women, and has played pivotal roles in projects like the Invictus Games and World War I Centenary commemorations.
In this episode, Garrath also shares his profound insights into the challenges faced by Afghan evacuees who had served shoulder-to-shoulder with British forces. His work as an advisor to military charities and on key projects, such as assisting Johnny Mercer MP with the Afghan resettlement initiative, showcases his dedication to ensuring those who served are never forgotten.
