The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy.

I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.

John 10:10

Jesus said “I AM the good shepherd.”

How fitting that on the Sunday after the new pope was elected we hear these words once again.

Because Jesus is a good shepherd, he protects the sheep and leads them to green pastures and still waters.

By contrast, the thief seeks to kill and destroy, thinking only of himself.

Jesus told the disciples to listen for his voice and follow him.

Easy to say but hard to do.
