Gavan Hennigan is an Irish extreme environment athlete.
In his day job, Gavan is a deep-sea saturation diver, diving to depths of up to 200m performing heavy construction on oil rigs - often spending up to a month at a time under water.
In his down time, Gavan surfs, snowboards and climbs high altitude peaks in the Himalayas.
Gavan also runs extreme ultramarathons, having recently completed two of the longest and toughest winter ultras on Earth - the 566km Likeys 6633 ultra, inside the Arctic circle.. and the 500km Yukon Arctic Ultra.
Gavan recently completed a 17 day, 700km solo expedition - traversing the frozen Lake Baikal in Siberia, on foot.
Gavan also talks about his addiction to drugs throughout his teenage years, as well as a fail suicide attempt and rehab.
In December 2016, Gavan will be attempting his biggest challenge to date.. rowing 5,000km solo across the Atlantic ocean as part of the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge.
