We kick off Season 2 with a special episode in partnership with the South Asian Heritage Month UK Organization ( @southasianheritagemonth_uk).
We invited healthcare professionals, Dr. Gaya Gamhewage and Nibarna Kannathasan, to have an open dialogue with DTP hosts Guni and Thasha about what it's like to be women within the Sri Lankan Diaspora.

More about Dr. Gaya:
Dr. Gaya Gamhewage is a qualified Medical Doctor who works with the World Health Organization (WHO) and is based in Switzerland. She holds a Masters Degree in International Health and International Policy Making and Negotiation. At the WHO, she leads all Learning, Training and Capacity Building initiatives in the Health Emergencies Program, and is a Certified Life Coach and expert in Adult Learning, Conflict Management and Negotiation. Gaya is also the Co-Founder of the Social Enterprise, The Wisdom House, where she combines her wealth of professional experience with her passion to help people learn and grow.

More about Nibarna:
Nibarna Kannathasan is a BACP accredited psychotherapist working from an integrative and transcultural approach. She takes a specific interest in exploring accessible therapy that works from a transcultural and collective approach which places an importance on heritage and migration journeys.
She currently works with survivors of rape and sexual assault within the NHS, supporting them from a trauma informed approach. Nibarna is also a trustee at ANBU UK (Abuse Never Becomes Us), a charity working with survivors of child sexual abuse in the Tamil community and focuses on culturally sensitive therapeutic interventions.
Nibarna has a small private practice, Nevana Wellbeing, where she offers therapy which contextualises clients within their heritages. Her current doctoral research focuses on bridging the acculturation gap between generations within the Tamil community following migration from Sri Lanka to the UK.
