The Good, The Bad, and The What!?

GBW #24: Just When You Thought It Was Safe... (Piranha / Orca: The Killer Whale / Cruel Jaws)

Listen Later

Hello, and welcome to another episode of The Good, The Bad, and The What!? The show in which we discuss three films that we have deemed "good," "bad," or "what!?" within a subgenre, theme, motif, director or actor's filmography, and more!

On this week's episode, as there are a couple more weeks of summer left, Chris and Ryan look back on the knockoffs and imitators of the summer blockbuster that started it all: Steven Spielberg's "Jaws." We start with 1978's "Piranha," the Joe Dante-directed, John Sayles-penned, and Roger Corman-produced monster flick that has enough wit and point-of-view of its own to stand out amongst the pack. Then, we move into 1977's "Orca: The Killer Whale," in what we could only really describe as an industrial film that accidentally made it to theaters, before finally wrapping up with schlockmaster Bruno Mattei's infamous king-of-all-knockoffs shark epic: 1995's "Cruel Jaws."
