We start with 1988's breakneck "all in one night" cult favorite "Miracle Mile," then swing into how "Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines" ups the ultimate stakes yet feels weightless, before ending on possibly the bleakest and most-accurate depiction of today's topic, 1984's "Threads."
