GE Profile ClearView Air Conditioner Gives Your Window Back to You

Listen Later

It’s a ritual – In the Spring, you have to plan to put the AC into the window and lose your view. In the Fall you have to plan to take it out – which means you get your view back. If that’s the only view to the outside in your apartment or house, then you lose a lot in the warmer months.

GE Profile is giving the window back to you with the Profile ClearView window Air Conditioner. By setting the unit below the window sill, not only can you open the window on cooler days, but the unit also sits better on the window because it’s using more of the wall around it.

Features of the GE Profile ClearView

GE Profile App

The biggest feature is the design of the unit so you can see through your window. It will open freely when the day is cooler, as well as bringing in natural light into the room.

At 41 dB, the unit is quiet. As most of the unit is on the outside of the house or apartment, the only thing you’ll hear is the fan. Keeping your fan at the low speed will push air while staying it’s quietest.

Built-in WIFI allows you to connect to your network, and use an Amazon Alexa or Google Home to control the Air conditioner. Of course you can also use the remote control included with the unit.

The SmartHQ app also connects up to the Profile ClearView to do a lot more than just adjust the air. You can do more, like monitor the energy consumption, to schedule on/off times, right through the app.

Important Things to Know About the GE Profile ClearView

Since the unit takes up space below the window, the window sill width is very important. The Profile ClearView extends out to 13.75 inches so you can set your unit in better. In fact, I have a brick exterior, which is up to 13.75 inches, so I had to extend the unit all the way.

To adjust the width of the air conditioner, you will have to adjust the chase-way (the notch in the middle of the unit). This is done by removing 4 locking screws, pulling out to it’s desired length, then putting the screws back in through the new hole markings.

The adjuster bolt and locking nut are to help rest the outside part of the unit to the house. This only comes out 3.75 Inches, but even with my brick house, there was no problem putting the unit in place.

There are three filters on this unit – the side filter (right side), the Inlet Grille filter (in the front), and the drain cap filter (left side). If you remove the drain filter, have a bucket ready to catch any condensation. All three filters can be cleaned and placed back into the unit.
