Geek Devotions

What do you do when you've made a mistake and more work is stacked up behind it? Dallas of Geek Devotions ran into that on day four of Inktober, the daily ink drawing challenge, when gel pen ink bled through the paper and left a green blotch on the other side of the page. He figured he'd wrecked the whole book. Dallas reads Romans 8:28 and Jeremiah 29:11 and asks what changes when we stop freezing up in fear.

💬 Question of the Week: Are you doing Inktober this year? How's it going? And if you use gel pens, I need tips.

Five books. One story. And it was never really about Katniss. This week we're looking at how The Hunger Games echoes something a lot older: the way scripture, from Genesis to Revelation, has been telling one singular story about God's love for you the whole time.

Question of the Week: What's a moment you looked back and said, "Oh, that was God"? Tell us in the comments, we want to hear it.

Booklog Golf is underway in our Discord, and the Inktober art channel is already filling up. Come join in.

Catch us live at the Anime and Cosplay Shindig, Nov 7, Monroe LA.

Most people don't fail Inktober. They just run out of steam around day 12 and quietly stop posting. In this episode of Geek Devotions, I walk through the exact prep work I do before picking up a pen: choosing a medium, building a color story, and testing my tools so I don't get burned halfway through the month.

Question of the Week: Are you doing Inktober this year? Drop your plans (or your art!) in our Discord Inktober channel, we want to see it.

Catch us live at the Anime and Cosplay Shindig, Nov 7, Monroe LA.

Burger King's new CEO went online and asked people to tell him what's wrong with the company. That's a bold move, and it's also a genuinely biblical one. Power Rangers turns 33 this year, and the legacy isn't spotless. Behind the colorful suits were underpaid actors, ignored warnings, and the loss of Jason David Frank. Being free from something doesn't mean it stops trying to pull you back. In Godzilla vs. The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Rita Repulsa keeps trying to drag Tommy back under her control even after he's already broken free. Dallas talks through what to actually do when old habits creep back in, what 1 Corinthians 15 and James 4:7 say about it, and why asking for help is harder, and more essential, than most people think.Dallas' book "How Do I Actually Pray" is officially out👉 https://a.co/d/0irxv3h9If you've read it, a review on Amazon genuinely helps other people find it. Ever feel like your gifts don't measure up to someone else's? Dallas takes a look at Power Rangers Mystic Force this week, specifically an episode where Nick assumes Maddie is "missing life" because she's always behind a camera, and finds out she's using it to show people they're loved. It's a launch pad into 1 Corinthians 12 and what it actually means that everybody's gifts look different, and why that's not a problem to fix.🎪 We're at GeekCon this weekend!Dallas' book "How Do I Actually Pray" is here 👉 https://a.co/d/0irxv3h9💙 Support Geek Devotions: https://geekdevotions.com/support/⚡️ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/GeekDevotions📱 Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/GeekDevotionsInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/GeekDevotionsTikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@geekdevotions💙 THANK YOU TO OUR PATRONSWe are so thankful to our Devoted Patreon Geeks who help make this ministry possible: Ruiz Family, Adam Arciniega, Branson Boykin, Nerd Chapel, Jacob Russell, Jeffrey Leon, Jonathan Herrman, Kevin Lovelace, Lady Lomax, Paul Turner, Paul J Powers, Savie Wilson, The Cel Cast, Monster Island Film Vault — and so many more. In 2017, Power Rangers and the Justice League crossed paths in a Boom! Studios and DC Comics miniseries, and Zack, the Black Ranger, spent most of it drowning in guilt over a mistake that started the whole mess. Celeste talks through what Zack's guilt gets right, what it gets wrong, and what Superman actually tells him about it. She also dig into Titus 2:11-12 and what it means to live with grace that trains you instead of grace that just excuses you.
