Season 10 of Apex Legends has finally arrived, and it is a masterpiece. The new character Seer is unique and offers interesting new abilities that tie together well and allow your party to perceive where close enemies are and how much health they have. The new gun rampage is an LMG that is great for mid range action. It has high damage and very little recoil, and thermite grenades can be used to charge it up so that it shoots a lot faster for a short time. The World's Edge map has a lot of interesting changes, especially if you like lava! In this episode, we share and discuss gaming news each week that interested us in some way. We share a few current events for a minute each and then share back and forth about each one. In this episode we discuss Magic: Legends, a new twist to the classic card game Magic: The Gathering, and the game looks very promising with a Diablo-esque feel. It appears to remain true to the spirit of the card game by bringing in cards to be used as powers and development.   Dragon Age 4 will be a single player game, though it was previously being developed as a live multiplayer game. The Dragon Age series is belowed by many, including us here at GenXGamers, and we are very excited to get back into the fatasy world and explore and build relationships with the characters within it.   It is now 4 months since the release of Cyberpunk 2077, and many new updates are being released. Despite the rough launch of the game, it made record sales even though it is still not available on the Sony Play Store for PS4 users. Will it ever become available, and is it still as buggy as can be?  Many people play games to relax, space out, enjoy a good story or experience, but more and more video games have been reported to cause anxiety and stress for players, particularly in competitive games. What is there to do?  Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an upcoming video game with a new twist on Middle Earth, as you will be sneaking and making your stealthy way as Gollum/Smeagle in times prior to The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings books.  Microsoft is looking to acquire the gaming communication tool Discord for around $10 billion dollars. Microsoft already has Skype and Microsoft Teams, but they want the community that uses and socializes using Discord and the success of the communication tool. Hopefully it doesn't bring down Discord if the acquisition goes through.

We are the Gen X Gamers Podcast

We cover weekly gaming news that is worth knowing that came out recently. In our Gaming Update episode we share a few current events for a minute each, and cover a couple larger news items with some commentary. Then we tease the upcoming extended podcast show on a specific topic related to gaming. 

This week we cover the Bethesda (ZeniMax) acquisition by Xbox which is now finalized and immediately brought 20 Bethesda games to Xbox Game Pass and it was announced that we can expect Xbox/PC exclusives to come. There is a new hit that become a cult classic Supraland with its cartoony puzzles mixed with fantasy and a heatlhy dose of shooter and action. The world has missed Tiger Woods golf games, but with his rebound back into the spotlight he has just signed an exclusive game deal with 2K studios to bring his golf game franchise back to all systems. Alien the RPG (Role-Playing Game) has won a lot of awards and offers a unique pen and paper or virtual tabletop experience that manages to capture H. R. Giger's space horror feeling and a new Colonial Marine Operations Manual is just coming out. Germany is revamping its 20-year-old Youth Protection Act and considered banning loot boxes as a form of gambling or making games which include them 18+ only, but they went back on that and will probably require games to more clearly spell out that loot boxes and in-game purchases are included.  

 We also talk a little bit longer about the massive rise of Dungeons & Dragons (D&D), which had its best year in 2020 by far in its 47 year history. Everybody is playing online amid the COVID-19 pandemic, whether by Roll20 or some other form. There are celebrities both new and old streaming their games with mass followings, and there are 3 new AAA games coming up including Dark Alliance which is set in Forgotten Realms and features Drizzt Do'urden and other R. A. In the last episode of Season 3, Nathan Johnson (Luffy) joins Kid Icoryus to talk about two games which are arguable polar opposites coming out of 2020. Luffy has logged many hours on both and the two will discuss the good and bad as well as pick one as the overall winner for 2020.
