Romans 1 is often the key text for affirming or disallowing same-sex eroticism in the Christian church. While our reading does have implications for a conservative reading of Romans 1 (which we both affirm), we seek to allow the text to speak for itself. What Romans 1 is doing is illustrating a negative example of gendered mutualism, and we therefore see Paul's sexual egalitarianism (or his view of Eden) shining through humanity's sinfulness.
