Gender pay gap narrows as Victoria mandates work-from-home rights

New research from the Workplace Gender Equality Agency reveals the gender pay gap in Australia has narrowed by just under 1%, with the biggest improvements occurring in lower-income sectors where women are overrepresented. However, significant inequality persists in high-paying industries like banking and airlines, where men dominate senior leadership and executive positions. The Victorian government has announced plans to enshrine the right to work from home two days a week, including for small businesses, following a survey of 37,000 respondents showing 75% consider remote work extremely important.
