Gene McDaniels was an American singer who had his greatest successes in the early '60's. He grew up in Omaha, Nebraska where he sang gospel music in church as a boy.

He went on to develop a love of jazz and learned to play the saxophone and trumpet. It was when he began singing in jazz clubs that he came to the attention of Liberty Records.

His composition, "Feel Like Makin' Love" reached #1 when sung by Roberta Flack and the song went on to win a Grammy Award.
