Generation Equality: Realising women’s rights for an equal future

Listen Later

Generation equality is a global campaign that is aimed at achieving gender equality by 2030. This movement has the most visionary agenda for the human rights of women and girls, everywhere. The campaign demands equal pay, equal sharing of unpaid care and domestic work. The campaign demands for an end to sexual harassment and violence against women and girls.

It also speaks to healthcare services that respond to their needs. Finally, it calls for equal participation in political life and in decision-making in all areas of life. South Africa has been described as the rape capital of the world and the most unequal society in the world. There is a disconnect between the work of

this global campaign to our local reality. What work do we need to do to make gender equality viable, feasible and tangibly achievable by 2030?
