Her name was Keturah
She bore him children, 5 in total
We only get the children of 2 of his children from Keturah
Makes a point of noting all that Abraham had was given to Isaac
These are concubine-wives (Keturah and Hagar)
Their sons were given gifts
They were sent away from Isaac to the East

He was gathered to his people - realm of the dead

Buried with Sarah his wife
God blessed Isaac, lived at Beer-lahai-roi
Not a man, but God blessed him

Generations of Ishmael

Prayed to the LORD because she was barren
The LORD answers
Rebekah has some craziness with her pregnancy - prays and is answered
Two Nations are in your womb
Two Peoples will be separated from your body
One shall be stronger than the other
The Older shall serve the Younger
Time to Give Birth
There were twins
The first child birthed was red and hairy - called him Esau (Edom)
The second child birthed was holding Esau’s heel - called him Jacob
Isaac was 60 years old when they were born

They grew up - The differences
Esau a skillful hunter, a man of the field
Jacob a quiet man, dwelling in tents
Parents differed in their love
Isaac Loved Esau - food
Rebekah Loved Jacob
Jacob was cooking stew
Esau came in form the field
Asked for some red stew, was exhausted
Jacob, sell me your birthright now (stew for birthright)
Esau did it (exaggerating?)
Esau swore his birthright to Jacob
Jacob gave him some bread
Bread and lentil stew
Thus Esau despised his birthright
