The "seed" promise is faced with more obstacles. Isaac is now old and has decided to subvert God's will, while Rebecca and Jacob have decided to sin in order that good may come from it. Esau finally learns what he has forsaken when the blessing is denied him - and God's word and promise once again is fulfilled despite opposition and the sinfulness of His people
