This biblical text describes the story of the Fall, where a crafty serpent deceives Eve into eating from the forbidden tree, promising knowledge and likeness to God. Adam also partakes, leading to awareness of their nakedness and an attempt to hide from God. When confronted, they blame each other and the serpent. As a consequence, God curses the serpent, imposes painful childbearing and subservience on the woman, and mandates arduous labour and a return to dust for the man, ultimately banishing them from the Garden of Eden.
