In Genesis 37, we see the destructive forces of favoritism, envy, and hatred bubbling up in Jacob's family. Joseph has dreams of God's plan for his future and his family wants nothing to do with it. God's plan for Joseph includes bringing his brothers into humility and ultimately saving them but they don't know about the saving part and don't want anything to do with the humility part. They make a plan to throw him into a cistern and let him die but then Judah gets a grander idea to sell him off into slavery so they can make money off him. Joseph ends up exactly where God wants him to be. This story is similar to God loving Jesus so much and sending Him to Earth to save us. Jesus was betrayed, sold and thrown into a tomb. Not even the strongest tomb could hold Him down and away from God's plan of resurrection so we can all live eternally with Him if we choose to make one simple choice - to believe and accept His gift of salvation.
