* God told Jacob not to be afraid to go down to Egypt and that Joseph would bury him.

* That’s crazy, considering God had kept Jacob in the dark all these years (nearly 20).

* Why?

* Because God knew if Jacob knew where his son was he would have gone down to rescue him - out of Potipher’s house, out of prison, away from Pharaoh.

* But God didn’t let Jacob in on His plan because Jacob would’ve messed it up.

* God was orchestrating the way His people would be protected in Egypt, but it took years to line everything up.

* In the meantime, He kept Jacob in the dark.
