In this episode of the Bible podcast, we looked at Genesis chapter 20, a simple but powerful story about fear, honesty, and God’s protection. This chapter shows that even when we don’t get everything right, God still steps in to cover us and keep His promise over our lives. What Happened in Genesis 20? Abraham (AY-bruh-ham) and his wife Sarah (SAIR-ruh) moved to a new land called Gerar (JEE-rar). Abraham became afraid that the people in this land might hurt him because of Sarah’s beauty.
Out of fear, he told people that Sarah was his sister instead of telling the full truth. The king of that land, King Abimelech (Uh-BIM-uh-lek), took Sarah into his home. But before anything happened, God stepped in. God warned Abimelech in a dream that Sarah was Abraham’s wife. Abimelech, shocked, returned Sarah and asked Abraham to pray for him. Then he blessed Abraham with animals, servants, and allowed him to live anywhere in the land. After Abraham prayed, God healed Abimelech’s household.
