In Genesis 4, Adam and Eve have two sons, Cain and Abel. Cain becomes jealous when God favors Abel's offering over his own. In anger, Cain kills Abel and is subsequently cursed by God to wander the earth. Cain's descendants include Enoch, who builds a city, and Lamech, who boasts about killing a man. Adam and Eve later have another son, Seth, who becomes the ancestor of Enosh.
