Pastor Randy's Beginnings: Genesis Sermon Series sermon message titled "Promise or Pride?" from Genesis chapter 9. God blessed Noah and his sons and commanded them to be fruitful, increase in number, and fill the earth. God will demand an accounting for the life of another human begin because humans are made in God's image. The rainbow is a sign that God will keep His promise for all generations to come. Noah's three sons were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. Noah's drunkenness and nakedness reflects the sin and shame of Adam and Eve in the garden. Noah cursed Ham's lineage for two reasons: Ham dishonored his parents. (Ex.20:12; Lev. 18:7-8) Canaan could be the son from Ham's sin. (Gen. 9:18,22) Remember, God's plan will never fail - it is not influenced humans, and God loves us with a long-suffering patience.
