Definitions

Engaged Christians - identity as Christian, have attended church within the past six months, and agree with these statements:

  • The Bible is the inspired Word of God
  • Commitment to Jesus
  • Engage with their church outside of church services
  • Believe that Jesus was crucified, resurrected from the dead, and conquered sin and death

    • Churched Christian

    • Identify as Christian and have attended church within the past six months, but do not qualify as engaged under the above definition.
    • Unchurched Christians
      • Identify as Christians, but have not attended church within the past six months

        • Other Faith

        • non-Christians

          • No Faith

          • Agnostic, atheist, or “none of the above.”

            • Statistics

            Engaged Christians

            • (Pre-Covid) 79% say attending church is very important

              • Churched Christians

              • 25% say attending church very important

                • Engaged 95% and churched 77% say that the church is a place to find answers to live a meaningful life

                • Similar numbers say they feel comfortable being themselves at church, it is relevant to life.

                  • Engaged 37% and church 53% say that the church rejects science

                  • Similar numbers believe that the church is hypocritical (21% and 42%) and not safe to express doubts (12% and 32%)
