Amazing is the story of George Stephenson
Amazing is the story of George Stephenson. Even though this book was written in the middle of the nineteenth century it is still an entertaining and informative account of a man whose accomplishments were utterly remarkable. Out lives today wouldn't be the same and probably not as good absent George Stephenson's contribution to the development of railroads and our modern world.
Stephenson and the locomotive
Focused on George Stephenson's contributions
to the development of the steam engine and the railroads.
A lot of good period background and data.
Somewhat tedious Victorian style, but sprinkled
with gems of knowledge of when railroading was invented, and
how it changed lives, city's, and nations.
The Iron Horse Family
Well written historical account of the father-son team that brought the steam engine into practical railroad usage. The narrative is not infused with distracting side detail but provides just enough fullness to get a sense of the lives of these men.
Talk about real-life stories! Wow!
