Making Movements

George Fielding BEM

Listen Later

An honour and a privilege!

George is a young social care leader and an advocate of life! I saw him speak at a conference for special educational needs specialists years ago. I think he was still in uni, or had just left, but I remember thinking he held the stage like a prime minister.

He talks about Nina Simone and Van Morrison, being the first ever wheelchair user at both his schools, the only song he knows written from the perspective of a person with a disability, and what he loves (despite everything he hates) about social care.

He’s also a forensic listener of song lyrics, which is useful for me as they don’t seem to go into my head...

Songs from:

Dick Gaughan - What You Do with What You Got

Nina Simone - I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel To Be Free

Laura Marling - Once

Van Morrison - Dweller On The Threshold

Satisfied Mind - Hal Ketchum

Intro music by Ralph TV.
