The first inaugural address of George Washington, read by Lawrence Lessig. It is the first inaugural address and set the precedent for future addresses. Unlike future addresses, though, the first few were not delivered to the public. This address was delivered to the Senate chamber on April 30th, 1789.
The covert art is the Lansdowne portrait of George Washington, by Gilbert Stuart. It is housed at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.
