Welcome to a new edition of the Neon Jazz interview series with Georgian-born Pianist & Composer Giorgi Mikadze .. We caught up with him at the original school that taught him jazz in Georgia to discuss how far he has come and specifically his new 2024 CD Face to Face: Georgian Songbook Vol. 1 .. He started out following a well-trodden path on the way to becoming a successful jazz musician: leaving home for the United States, studying at a prestigious music school in Berklee and the Manhattan School of Music, winning music competitions and jazz fellowships, and performing with many of the music’s legendary figures like Jack DeJohnette, Roy Hargrove, Dave Liebman and many others ..
