Welcome to the Show

Good day and welcome to this week’s episode of the Nursing Show podcast for nurses, by nurses. I’m your host Jamie Davis and I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for checking out the show this week. First up, in this week’s nursing news items, we will look at allegations of discrimination in how we promote and administer HPV vaccines to our minority youth.

Then in this week’s special tip segment I have geriatric oncology nurse Peggy Burhenn on the show to talk with me about this increasing patient population. We know that as we get older, the risk of cancer increases. With an ever increasing aging population, we must improve our assessment and caregiving skills for these special patients. What can you do to improve? We’ll have answers to that and more later in this episode after the news.

If you want to get back in touch with me, please drop me an email. You can send those e-mails in to [email protected]. I love to hear from you and I make sure I respond back to every email that comes in. Send me links to news items you’d like me to cover, interview suggestions with you or somebody you know.

I’ll be coming to San Francisco in the end of April to cover the American Nurse Informatics Association or ANIA. If your a nurse informaticist, consider attending this amazing event. Find our more at ANIA.org.

Also, I’ll be attending the upcoming AACN critical care nursing conference in New Orleans in May. A special thank you to Physio-Control, Nezzie by Blickman, and Advanced Ultra-Violet Systems for sponsoring my trip to that amazing conference.  That’s it. I will have more contact information coming up later on in this episode. Let’s get on in to this week’s news items coming right up!
