Wagner's Nightmare

German Philosophy and Wagner - with Dr. Benjamin Crowe of Boston University

Listen Later

We had a wonderful conversation with Dr. Benjamin Crowe about the philosophical milieu which Wagner would have grown up it. We covered German Idealism and Romanticism (in philosophy), and their relationship to nationalism, art and, inevitably, Wagner. Some names we lightly touched on include Kant, Hegel, Fichte, Schopenhauer, Herder, Marx, and Nietzsche. This was a particularly good episode in our estimation!

Our Album Fundraising Campaign is running until Thursday, June 16th. The Album is the cornerstone and culmination of Wagner's Nightmare. You can back us at Indiegogo to help us bring this album of "music Wagner wouldn't like" into the world.
