Phil Zuckerman is a professor of sociology and secular studies at Pitzer College in Claremont, California. He is also a regular affiliated professor at Claremont Graduate University, and he has been a guest professor for two years at the University of Aarhus, Denmark. He is also a Fellow of the Secular Global Institute. Phil joins us on the show and discusses the secular studies program that is offered at Pitzer and the vision behind it. He shares his findings on how and why secular societies can be viewed as more progressive when being compared to religious societies on various topics i.e. women’s rights, LGBT rights, education etc. He takes us through his years of researching many areas of where society and religiosity connect.
