*Getting rid of our negative emotions*
Everyone gets negative emotions. Do you know why that happens? 
We are in the middle of a party having fun. Suddenly, some guy comes and steps on your foot, or someone makes fun of you. It triggers negative emotions, and your mood changes. You become angry or frustrated and then leave the party. 
When you are in a meeting at the office, you suddenly become frustrated because the team says that they can't meet the commitment. You become angry at them and say something you will regret later. 
What is happening here? It's not normal for you to behave in this way, but you do it. What triggers this kind of behaviour? 
We create our beliefs and learn about our emotions at a very early age. Have you seen a baby show various emotions like laughter, sadness, anger, fear etc.? 
Our mind stores all the past unfriendly events and keeps a log. When a similar event happens, it tags them together. This is the reason why we get triggered. 
To get rid of our negative emotional triggers, we need to revisit our past in a safe environment, understand why we had them, and look for the learnings for each of the past events. 
Our mind has the capacity and the capability to change the meaning of such events and take the learnings for the future. 
Focus on our present moment, moving forward towards the future, with taking the lessons from the past is critical for us. 
Another reason is that the events are not aligned with our values and beliefs. If there is a conflict, then we need to understand the reason for the same. 
So what can you do:
* Practice Gratitude. Be thankful for all the good and bad experiences in life. They are there because of your choices and decisions. They will help you become strong. 
* Practice being aware of your emotions in the present moment. That will automatically help you control them.
* Practice meditation and mindfulness. It will help you understand your emotions and their purpose. 
* Practice focusing on your values. It is to keep you aligned towards what you want in life. 
Having negative emotions isn't a bad thing. It helps us understand what we don't want in life.
