If you are wondering how you can get started with creating amazing videos on a consistent basis and the equipment I use... In this video, I'll tell you exactly what equipment you need to make professional looking videos. I've had a lot of people complimenting my videos and asking how I make them. So, I made a video about making videos :) If you have a lot of stuff in your mind and you're wanting to use those thoughts to help, educate and entertain people then this is the video for you. I've made over 1,000 videos in my lifetime - between personal, business and Jeep (hobby) videos. Here's my steps and tips for making great videos. 1. Get thoughts on paper first. Figure out the story to tell in the video. And it's important to know who your audience is, so you know what story they want to hear. If your audience is too general, then your video won't make an impact because it's not for anyone specific. 2. Don't compare yourself to anyone else. You're not Casey Neistat or Gary Vaynerchuck. You do you. You can model other people, but be genuine and you're videos will be better for it. 3. Equipment - use what you've got at first. I used my iPhone and iPad with a good plug-in mic in the beginning. You also need good lighting. As you getter better, you may want to invest more in equipment. Here's the current list of what I'm using: camera: Canon DSLR T5-I light: O-ring light tripod: Joby gorillapod mic: Rode mic (plug-in, not battery) software: Final Cut Pro 4. What's the hook? What's the takeaway? Be clear upfront with this information so people can decided right away whether they want to watch or not. 5. After the intro, I like to throw in a bumper. This is to show some authority, so in my case it's some video of me on stage, speaking to clients, etc. This is just 6-seconds or so. 6. Edit in the breaks. When I edit I like to find places where there's a long pause, an "umm" or a stumble so I can get rid of those and create a hard break. These break grab attention and break up the monotony of a video. 7. Use some B-roll. If you don't know what B-roll is, it's the footage used while I'm narrating the scene. I have a monthly subscription to VideoBoss.com but you can use anything similar. 8. Add in music to underlay the sound and emotion for your video. I use Epidemic Sound, which is a legal way to play licensed music. Using the right music allows you to steer the viewers emotions and effect the mood of the story you're telling. So, that's everything! What are you using to make your videos? Comment below and share your questions so I can help you make better videos.
