At the end of four chapters of in-depth teaching with his disciples, Jesus summarizes everything with a simple and plain description of his ministry and provision for his disciples. In the midst of their anxiety and confusion, Jesus reiterates the importance and privilege of prayer, promises peace in the midst of tribulation and reminds his disciples that in spite of the trouble they will receive from the world, he has overcome the world.
