I want to share with you what someone responded to one of our posts last week and I want to show it to you because it’s our mission to help high achieving Christians learn the most effective tools to heal past pain and change habits without running over their own needs.
The comment I’m sharing reminded me of what some Christians told me in my healing process that did not help me heal. The things they said actually caused me to feel worse.
“God bless that you're educating people in this field! but Once you deny yourself and surrender your life to Christ completely those shame / guilt / judgment go away. We have a Savior who does this for us, if you try to do it yourself is why people go through this because it's not a full surrender, it's a compromise. Those who try to save their life will lose it but those lose their life for my sake and the Gospel will find it!”
What did you feel when you read that? If you have heard anything Iike this 👆🏻 before I bet it felt really bad when it was said.
Why? There are direct quotes from Jesus after all, right????
Hear me out 👀 That theology is so wrong and harmful because it doesn’t allow you to be a human in the real human messy process. It is saying that when you become a Christian that you will no longer have problems suddenly and this is not true or biblical. This theology says that if you have pain or difficulties that you may not be saved or at best that you are not a good enough Christian.
I want to tell you that it’s ok to struggle! Jesus on earth went through pain and hardship and yet never sinned.
Psalm 23:4 says 👇🏻
”Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.“
The focus isn’t on not fearing—it’s on God being with and comforting David IN the valley.
This being said, we are so passionate to share with you what we learned that actually worked to help us change unwanted habits and heal past pain. We created a free workbook that we want to give to about 50 people. Who wants it?
