When you were first starting out it's not easy to get people to listen to your music because nobody is searching for it. One of my favorite ways in establishing a new artist is through collaborations. Getting your music heard with Collaborations allow new people to access the networks and fans of established people but you can't expect something that offers you that much value to be free. If you want to collaborate with someone make sure that you are engaged on their fan base and social media pages for at least a month before you ask them to do something for you. Learn about what they stand for and how they choose their collaboration. The next thing you want to do is establish value and credibility as a musician Ask yourself if the person you want to collaborate with offers more value than you do. Make sure that you offer something of equal value and fair wages. This is especially important if you want access to a network that has been well-established and offers you a lot of value. You can't expect someone who has worked hard to establish their fan base to give you access to it free of charge just because you make music. With the thousands of people creating today, unestablished artist need to be ready to invest in music marketing in order to build good relationships within the music industry. Otherwise you run the risk of looking like a user and that's a terrible way to be known in any industry. I'm not talking about paying people off, I'm talking about establishing value for value. If you have no credibility and no audience then obviously the value you can offer is a fare wage to get help building your career. Just like a manager, that influencer or press agency should be offered payment for their services. If you don't value the person you are asking to help you, then certainly find someone you do value and pursue that business relationship.
