다음날

The next day,

공주가 저녁 식사를 하러 앉았을 때,

just as the princess had sat down to dinner,

그녀는 이상한 소음을 들었습니다.

she heard a strange noise

톡톡, 찰박찰박

—tap, tap—plash, plash—

마치 대리석 계단에서 뭔가가 올라오는 것 같았지요.

as if something was coming up the marble staircase:

곧이어 문을 부드럽게 두드리는 소리가 나더니,

and soon afterwards there was a gentle knock at the door,

작은 목소리가 울며 말했습니다.

and a little voice cried out and said:’

'문을 여세요, 공주님.

‘Open the door, my princess dear,

당신의 진정한 사랑의 문을 열어줘요!

Open the door to thy true love here!

그리고 당신과 내가 말한 단어들을 기억하세요.

And mind the words that thou and I said

시원한 분수 옆에서, 초록나무 그늘에서요.'

By the fountain cool, in the greenwood shade.'

그러자 공주는 문으로 달려가 문을 열었는데,

Then the princess ran to the door and opened it,

그곳에서 그녀는 그 개구리를 보게 되었습니다.

and there she saw the frog,

그녀가 한참 잊고 있던 개구리였죠.

whom she had quite forgotten.

이 광경을 보고 그녀는 무척 겁을 먹고,

At this sight she was sadly frightened,

가능한 한 빨리 문을 닫아버렸습니다.

and shutting the door as fast as
