poem: Ghetto Girl by BOYBASHER, (2025).

my poem:
I have a boyfriend
He’s everything
I like him so much
I don’t dare cheat
He lives so far away
And I’m no vxrgin mary
A beast isn’t tamed, til she’s married
Fell for his soft soul
Witnessing him father his child
Somber tears on cracked skin
Scary scars
Permanent ink
Memorials of friends he chose as family
Dirty baby
Tossed aside
Street sleeping
Couch surfing
Candy sxlling
You know you’re in love
When there’s a grown man, standing in front of you
Yet all you see is the traxmatized boy, dxing inside
For a hug from mommy
He rests his head on my chest
While I cradle his neck
Stroke his silvered hair
Tell him he’s the 1
He’s safe with me
My love stories are my own
Secrets turn into memories
You can never erase
Offer him release from the wicked world
Asking for nothing in return
Only found love and vivid color to paint our dreams
Passing cxgarettes
Cheap motel rooms
Sweat soaked sheets
Scruffy boots in the corner
A mother burden to never deliver offspring
A father who needed a reason to breathe
He fell in love with himself
After he saw his personality burst out, through his babies
Many moms
Good girlfriends
Pick up bottles and turn messy
Self soothe the pain, forced upon by stxpid society
Pigment of skin
Weight of body
Last names
A safe space to exist
Is what I seek and offer
Deep intimacy
Silent shrieks
Don’t need all the money
Nor upscale luxuriourities
An e-cxg and country boy to share spit with is enough
For ghetto girls like me
He gave me true sweetness
From his brittle heart
And now, I gotta sweet tooth for the rest of time
