Listen Later

#43: Colorado has a long and storied history of hidden gold and silver in the mountains. The state has seen its share of boom towns and financial busts. And this makes for a colorful history as well as unique places to explore.

Colorado is full of wild west stories, abandoned buildings, derelict mine shafts, and ghost towns. In today’s episode you will learn more about Colorado ghost towns you can actually visit and what makes each one unique.

There are reportedly as many as 1,500 ghost towns around the state. But more conservative estimates put that number closer to 600. Due to incomplete records and legends that are now accepted as fact, no list will ever be complete.

From abandoned ghost towns that are haunted, to historical buildings that still occupy residents, this list of eight ghost towns are the ones we feel like you just can’t miss. Listen in as Ryan and Carrie discuss the history of each ghost town, where they are located, and how to visit them for a fun and informative Colorado experience.
