Remembering Y.A. Tittle, Jim Landis, Bob Schiller, Jimmy Beaumont
Y. A. Tittle was the Hall of Fame quarterback for the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. He helped the giants to the NFC Championship Game three consecutive years from 1961-1963, but they were defeated in each of the three championship games. He was also the subject of one of the most famous photos in sports history. Jim Landis was the smooth fielding center fielder for the Chicago White Sox, and was a mainstay of the 1959 Go-go White Sox, the only team to win an American League pennant form 1955-1964 other than the Yankees. Bob Schiller was the veteran comedy writer for many shows but was best known for his work on “I Love Lucy”. Jimmy Beaumont was the lead singer for the Pittsburgh doo-wop group, The Skyliners. He sang and helped pen the 1958 classic “Since I Don’t Have You”.
