In our culture and unfortunately in our churches we are immune to the thought of weakness. We fight often and we fight hard to prove the power of our strength. Only the strong survive, we say. Nobody wants to be the weakest link. But the primary lesson we need to learn on repeat—a lesson which Gideon learns firsthand from Yahweh Himself—is that Yahweh’s strength is made perfect [ that is, most clearly revealed ] in our weakness.
