“Geocaching Is a Journey“ Defoz (France)

──What inspired you to create this film for GIFF 2025?

I was inspired by…my loneliness I guess! :)

let me explain: I really enjoy riding bike, and I left my familly for 2 days of riding alone. You already know that. I have a small YouTube channel so I know how to film and edit, and filming something for the GIFF was already in my mind. But I have no idea…until the famous ride! When you’re cycling long hours all by youself, your mind is…more creative ! So the scenario came in my mind when I was pedaling!

I decided to shot various parts of my ride during my trip. For the story I’ve no caméra and no tripod… My phone fit perfectly in my mug so I use it to stabilize the phone!

──How many people worked on your film, and how long did the production take?

I was the only one from beginning to end !

The production take… maybe 12 hours !

──What was the most memorable or challenging part of making your film?

The most challenging part was to shot the part with the muggle: I had never acted this kind of humoritic scene before. Editing the scene was challenging: I wanted it to be rhythmic…this is the key of a fun scene !

──Is there a moment in your film that you hope geocachers around the world will notice or appreciate?

The message is the most important… I now live in a city where is not so much caches. 3 years ago I live south of Frabce and there were planty of great caches. So the way I geocache change: now I’m focus on the journey, and not so much in the number of caches I can found in one day.

──(yes!). A tip for those who would like to try next GIFF:go!!! My strategy: I watch old GIFF and I understand 3 things: finalists are often humoristics films, they often explain what Geocaching is, they often have a message.
