She studied film at UCLA’s School of Theater, Film, and Television, where she won awards for her screenwriting.

Her early life experiences shaped her focus on character-driven narratives, particularly stories centered on the African American experience.

This foundation led her to pursue a career in directing films that explore identity and resilience.
