This weeks two-part episode breaks down the patriarchal ideologies shown in Disney films. In the first part JC calls out the ideologies displayed with Disney’s first black princess, Tiana, in “The Princess & The Frog.” JC expresses how these images shown to young girls may translate into their lives as adult women. As JC moves to part 2 of “Girl, Who Told You?”, she will dive into her own experiences with being a black women dealing with patriarchy. Ultimately, she challenges women to think “who told you that you were just a girlfriend or wife?”
