Listen Later

On this episode of Previously Learnt, we were incredibly fortunate to be able to speak with elite para-athlete and explorer Jonny Huntingdon.

Jonny is an elite para-athlete, skier, climber and explorer and is a former British Army Officer and ultra distance runner.

In 2014, Jonny had a brain bleed which left him paralysed from the neck down on his left hand side.

Jonny's aim is to inspire others to think beyond the conventional and not let circumstances limit ambition.

His goal is to become the first ever disabled person to reach the South Pole solo, unsupported and unassisted.

We spoke of many things, including :

  • Working hard and treating people how you want to be treated yourself
  • No one should have to reach rock bottom before reaching out to someone
  • Importance of gaining experience
  • Controlling the controllables
  • Paralysis through analysis
  • How to make important decisions
  • Controlling your environment by understanding it
  • Don't be afraid to give things a go
  • Importance of humility
