Giving Peace A Chance or More War? | The Rob Maness Show EP 519

Listen Later

The emerging three front world war has shifted ever so slowly toward peace but even the most positive of us are highly skeptical we’ll get to a full peace any time soon. On the middle East front, the threat of a US war with Iran seemed to be increasing with very harsh rhetoric over the last month but yesterday President Trump announced the Houthi’s have capitulated and decided they don’t want to die anymore after the sustained bombing campaign of the last two months. Is this a good sign is one of the big questions surrounding the President’s trip to the Middle East next week and he stated in his press conference there will be a big positive announcement next week too. Pardon me if I’m skeptical, especially with the Ukraine-Russia peace deal seeming to stall at the European front as Ukraine threatens to attack the Moscow Victory Day parade on May 9, celebrating the defeat of Nazi Germany in World War 2, and the massive missile attacks on Crimea and Kiev in the last week from both sides. Solid information seems a bit harder to get regarding foreign policy these days with the Trump administration staff changes like National Security Advisor Mike Waltz leaving NSC and going to be UN Ambassador. On the Indo Pacific front, China conducted its largest Taiwan invasion rehearsals exercise yet and two nuclear powers, India and Pakistan, are trading conventional attacks over the last few days. My guest today to discuss all this is national security strategist David Pyne. David is a former U.S. Army combat arms and Headquarters staff officer, who oversaw armaments cooperation with the former Soviet Union, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the Americas from 2000-2003. He currently serves as President of the Task Force on National and Homeland Security.
