Paul is giving thanks for those who have walked away from their idolatry and sinful lives.

He tells them they are witnesses before God and the people, so they must make sure there is nothing that can be said about them and blameless.

He is glad they have become imitators of him, even with the trials and tribulations they faced.

Their reputation was preceding them in all their good works, they didn't have to say a word, they had turned from idols to God.

Paul told them they were his joy and glory.
